Abstract

Leberecht Migge was the most important landscape architect for the field of German modern architecture before WWII. Here, we see his vision of turning Europe into a continent of gardens, as a synthesis of garden and architecture, whereby everyone could attain a relative degree of economic and political freedom by growing their own food. This article will introduce American landscape architects to this critical figure.
