Notes: This paper is the result of research to improve accessibility of geographic data bases through spatial data querying and visualisation. It presents a novel prototype browser within which visual (as opposed to current textual) displays of responses to spatial database queries can be viewed. This research, which can be readily applied to interface design for spatial data clearing houses, is presented in a journal with maximum impact in the geographic data handling community. The lead author was a PhD student directed by the last author with some technical assistance from the second author.
