A method of analysing the problem state processor time consumption of routines in shared code id described. The method is applied in this paper to a particular operating system, the Michigan Terminal System (MTS). The principle, if not the details, of method should be applicable to some other operating systems. The method can be used while MTS is providing normal service, and involves no changes to the MTS software. This paper was submitted to the BCS Conference ""Computer Performance - Methods of Assessment and their Application"", University of Surrey, September 1972.
