Polyfurfuryl alcohol thermosets resins in fire resistant composite applications

Abstract

In several EU funded projects (BIOCOMP, NATEX, BIOBUILD and FIRERESIST) anew class of renewable liquid polyfurfuryl alcohol resins have synthesized and developedfor composite applications. High stiffness, compatibility with natural and mineral fibres asinherent fire resistance are key characteristics of these polymerized materials. Thepresentation will feature results coming from FIRERESIST project where these resins wereinvestigated for there use in fire proof composite applications.
