Abstract

© 2016, Institution of Engineering and Technology. All rights reserved.A new technique is presented for improving direct instantaneous control of a switched reluctance machine (SRM) by predicting the available flux levels. A new torque sharing algorithm is described for using this scheme to correctly allocate torque demands in a multi-phase SRM to achieve smooth and accurate torque control. After the implementation is detailed, simulation results are given to show to the effect of the new control scheme. The extension of the ideas in this paper into more sophisticated controllers is discussed.
