Abstract

This work described a technique whereby indirect holography can be extended to enable the radiation patterns of medium gain antennas to be obtained in a simple and inexpensive manner. It has described a method which overcomes the limitations imposed by using a traditional radiated reference signal. This has been achieved by sampling at spacing much less than half wavelength and electronically introducing a phase shift between each sample. The resultant separation of Fourier transform terms enables the far field radiation pattern to be determined. This has been supported by simulation results for a small antenna which demonstrate the improvement available using this technique. It has also demonstrated that this technique can also be applied to the reconstruction of complex fields at any desired distance from the antenna. This has included the reconstruction of antenna aperture fields which show good agreement with the original aperture fields. (6 References).
