Notes: Invitational group exhibition. Twenty six sculptors including Anthony Gormley, Eduardo Paolozzi, David Mach, Richard Wentworth, Richard Deacon and Anthony Caro. The exhibition was about sculptural process - the ways in which artists use materials and experiment with different methods of making and production. It explored uses of media, traditional techniques as well as modern manufacturing processes e.g. casting, construction, installation, carving, assemblage, land art etc. It included work borrowed from the Arts Council Collection and the Henry Moore Institute in Leeds. My drawings and sculpture were included because of the relationship between my innovative approach to drawing, the ‘speculative’ spaces and structures within the drawings, and the sculptures that are made alongside the drawings. The sculptures operate for me as working drawings and sketches – in many ways the reverse of the conventional relationship between drawing and sculpture. Work exhibited: three large drawings and seven small wood and paper constructions, products of my research into the relationship between two and three dimensions and representation. Funding obtained from Arts Council England. Small catalogue available.
