Older and disabled people possess a variety of functional limitations, from different types of physical impairment to restricted activity opportunities. The ASK-IT Integrated Project (FP6-2003-IST-2) uses ambient intelligence technology to provide personalised, self-configurable, intuitive and context-related applications and services for mobility impaired (MI) people in various environments, including home, work, leisure and transportation. It provides a set of additional services, including location-based, navigation, and e-commerce. This paper presents the ASK-IT objectives, system and services, explains the user requirements and content cataloguing methodology for the transportation application, and introduces the pilot sites in which ASK-IT trials will take place.
