Older and disabled people possess a variety of functional limitations, from different types of physical impairments to restricted activity opportunities. ICT systems, particularly those that allow access to the Internet and mobile-based services, should adhere to “design for all” objectives and should provide appropriate content, in order to avoid further social exclusion. ASK-IT uses ambient intelligence technology to provide personalised, self-configurable, intuitive and context-related applications and services for older and disabled people in various environments, including home, work, leisure and transport. It also facilitates knowledge and content organisation and processing, aiming to provide personalised service delivery to people, whatever their requirements.
