IMAGE is an EU-funded research project that uses intelligent agent technology to provide European residents and visitors with mobile, personalized, location-based information and services, specifically related to travel and tourism. User profiling enables information to be customised to the particular needs of an individual. The information and services are web-based and delivered through mobile phones and personal digital assistants (PDAs). An outline of the technical attributes of the IMAGE Mobility Agent is given, along with a description of the validation process. Findings are presented, with particular reference to demand for and willingness to pay for such a product.
