In recent years, travel behaviour analysis has been placed an increasing attention due to the substantial variation of household travel pattern with time. In developing countries, increase in household mobility relating with economic modernization tends to increase the vehicle ownership as well as the vehicle use dominating the behavioural variations. Although there exists a considerable growth in vehicle ownership regarding with developing nations, owning multiple vehicles are occasionally found due to the prevailing financial instability. Therefore, the scarce resource of vehicle ownership belonging to each household has to be efficiently accommodated among the travel-related daily activities of the household. A trip chain, in other words a multipurpose tour is defined as a linkage of different types of purposes by imposing several intermediate stops (Jou and Mahmassani, 1997). Although the commuting based trip chains accompanied with vast variety of household desires, it has to be decisive for the requirements persist on each individual, who benefits from the trip chain with minimum deviation of the commuter’s travel schedule. Therefore, considerable degree of flexibility has to be involved for the decisions on trip chaining. Most of the previous approaches have extensively considered the trip chaining aspects on individual behaviour and comparatively less effort was made on household behaviour due to the complexity of household travel pattern. This study aims to investigate the vehicle-ownership and the household behaviour on trip chaining for two-traveler households.
