Abstract

This study consists of: a collation of all previous data and reports concerning the abandoned mine sites at Avoca, County Wicklow, Ireland;, a fairly comprehensive stakeholder analysis identifies key socio-economic hurdles which need to be overcome in order to restore the River Avoca to salmonid fishery staus; analysis of available data to derive design parameters for possible remediation options; proposals for alternative remediation options; and reccomendations for a programme of work towards the restoration of the amenity of the river.
