Abstract

The status of surveillance as an academic enterprise has grown and changed enormously over recent years, but with the publication of both an introduction to the subject and a reader, it would seem thatSurveillance Studies is showing signs of coming of age. As one might expect from the formats, the twovolumes are very different but the differences are more than superficial matters of presentation andperhaps reflect rather deeper issues concerning the nature, of the enterprise we call Surveillance Studies. This article deals with these two summative efforts in this context.
