A decription is given of the Medlars on-line Information Retrieval system implemented under MTS. The system is intended for the Medical user so provides facilities for displying index terms and means for moving around thesaurus and its structures to find related terms. The system has been evaluated by allowing Medical users to formulate searches on-line. The output from these is compared with searches formulated by experts in the normal way. the results show that the Medical workers can use the system satisfactorily. The routines used are described in a seperate documemnt 'Medlars on-line Search Formulation and Indexing-Program Specifications.
