Modelling Concurrent Systems with Dynamic Communication Structure

Abstract

Many distributed computing systems (e.g. concurrent object-based systems) employ asynchronous (buffered) communication and exhibit a dynamically changing structure of communication channels between their component processes. In this report we develop an asynchronous process composition operator, and an asynchronous process equivalence which have the same role for such systems as the parallel composition and observational equivalence of e.g CCS have for synchronously communicating statically structured systems.
