Abstract

Hydraulic modelling has become a widely accepted practice in flood forecasting and other flood related studies all over the world. However, in order to use hydraulic models responsibly we should examine their performance critically and be aware of their limitations and applicability. This critical examination of hydraulic modelling is concluded with an overview of current developments in hydraulic modelling for flooding.
