Activating senses. Kindergartens in Finland

Abstract

The kindergartens and schools are used in Finland to eliminate the impact of the economical backgrounds in children's lives. The lightness, colourfulness and the aim to activate all the senses dominates this policy for equality in design. The municipalities offer a lot of work for architects, for every child boned is entitle to a kindergarten place or equivalent placement throughout her/his early life. The article analyses some of the newest kindergartens in Finland, their concepts, context and plans.
