Abstract

Purpose - Reviews the literature on UK partnerships between trade union/employees and employers. Design/methodology/approach - Looks at the definitions of partnership and the extent to which these include non-union partnership agreements; analyses the debate on the effectiveness of partnership agreements and the risks involved for both parties; and assesses the empirical literature on partnerships and their impact on the workplace. Discusses the limitations that this review reveals.
