The main aim of this study is to investigate whether or not there is a relationship between disrupted views of the future (future disorientation) and psychological well-being amongst cancer survivors. We are also interested in looking at any potential gender differences in future disorientation. Ten Participants will be recruited from the North East of England (5 male and 5 female) who will be invited to an interview to discuss how cancer has affected their views of the future and to discuss psychological well-being. Participants will be invited to attend a second interview 6 months later to see how their views have changed over time. The research methodology used in this study will be Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis which will be used in the design of the interview schedule and the analysis of the interview transcripts. Recruitment for this study began in December 2011.
