Abstract

The objective of this study is to look at metro performance and analyse metro delays by creating an event based simulation model of Tyne and Wear Metro using Simul8. It is shown that with the implementation of a delay mitigation method based on the behaviour of the driver Metro could realistically reduce travel time and recover quickly to normal operation; hence improve the on-time reliability and the quality of service.
