Abstract

The important role of medical engineers in the design and development of medical devices is without question. The clinical need for such devices has grown year by year, and will continue to grow. The design and development of useful, effective and safe devices depends on a good understanding of clinical use and a careful follow up of devices in clinical use to ensure they do work as planned and are safe. © Springer International Publishing Swit zerland 2014.
