Abstract

© 2014 IEEE. In this paper, two UHF meandered line antennas have been designed, simulated, fabricated and measured. These are, the meandered antenna and the spiral antenna for RFID and WSN's applications. A MoM-based electromagnetic simulator has been utilized to simulate the designed antennas. The antennas have been fabricated and their performances have been tested in anechoic chamber for more accurate results. The results showed that the meandered antenna outperforms the spiral antenna in terms of read range values. An acceptable agreement between measured and simulated results is demonstrated. Additionally, the effect of different materials attached to the fabricated antennas were also studied and the results show that water has significant effect on the resonant frequency and the cardboard has the least.
