Abstract

© 2014 IEEE. This paper presents the concept of the detection of crack in metal using radio frequency identification (RFID) tag antenna based sensor (TABS) in ultra-high frequency (UHF) band. The major purpose of our work is to simulate and explore a feasibility, challenges and principles of crack detection based on RFID grids, which can promise the widespread adoption of a smart skin in the field of structural health monitoring (SHM), e.g. health monitoring in railway track.
