Abstract

During the archaeological excavations of a necropolis in via San Pietro at Concordia Sagittaria (VE) ten marble fragments bearing traces of Latin inscriptions were found: they were part of the front side of two marble sarcophagi (A and B) set up on a high limestone podium. The paper discusses the two largest fragments – the first one pertaining to the sarcophagus A and the second one to the sarcophagus B – and a third one that also probably belonged to the sarcophagus A. The technical records of the other seven marble fragments and of a limestone fragment, found in the same archaeological area, but not pertaining to the sarcophagi A and B, are also offered. Finally, since one of the two largest fragments mentions a new Augustalis, the paper presents a complete census of the epigraphic documents concerning the sexviri and Augustales in Iulia Concordia.
