Abstract

© 2016 IEEE. Multi-layer metal-metal bonding structure is widely applied in aviation, aerospace, and nuclear industrial fields. Debonding defects retains high attention in Nondestructive testing and evaluation society. This paper proposes the feasibility study for inner debonding defect detection of lead-steel bonding structure by using eddy current pulsed thermography. Numerical study has been conducted for validation and the studies on detectability sensitivity curve versus effect of excitation current and heating time are reported. According to the numerical study, detection sensitivity and excitation current are monotonic related, and the optimum heating time is identified.
