A study of post-millennial developments in language policy and language planning in Latin America with primary research focus on Andean and Amazonian regions of Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia. The book seeks to intertwine top down and bottom up perspectives on policy and planning. It interrogates the reasons why legislating on indigenous language rights is inherently problematic, and shines a light on recent initiatives to implement the principle of language rights based on original research.
