Abstract

LIFELINES is a multifaceted storytelling project that facilitated a creative dialogue around issues of migration, refugee stories, cross-cultural encounters, multiculturalism and empathy, through the production of original filmic work produced by both refugees and host country citizens in a series of filmmaking workshops.Working across the United Kingdom this project set in motion a dialogical model of collaborative filmmaking, using a BAFTA-nominated film I Am Nasrine as a starting point for a much needed conversation around the refugee crisis. LIFELINES employed a range of creative mediums including filmmaking and photography workshops, screenings of both I Am Nasrine and work produced through workshops, and photography exhibitions across all participating organisations. The project was documented and included a teaching resource available via the I Am Nasrine site and its own site.
