Material Action was a six-month programme of clay participation, building on collaborative practice-based research examining clay and pedagogical approaches as engagement tools for social practice. Commissioned by the Nine Elms Vauxhall Partnership, in association with the Tate Exchange, Tate Modern, outcomes were shown at London galleries Gasworks, Pumphouse Gallery, Beaconsfield Gallery Vauxhall, and Tate Modern, London. Masterman also presented her emerging research at the intersections of ceramic and social practice to an international audience at Hasselt University Clay Matters Conference, Belgium 16/11/17, 52nd Annual NCECA Conference, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, 14/03/18, Centre of Ceramic Art Restating Clay Conference, York Art Gallery, York, U.K, 19/03/18.
