Abstract

Benzothiazolium salts have been developed as new reagents for installing valuable fluorine-containing functional groups onto organic molecules. The bench-stable and easy-to-handle solid BT-SCF3 delivered a wide range of alkyl-SCF3 compounds directly from alcohols under mild conditions, whereas the related selenium derivative BT-SeCF3 was employed in unprecedented deoxytrifluoromethylselenylation reactions.
