Abstract

Access diverse gold(III) complexes: The oxidative addition of aryldiazonium salts to gold(I) complexes under visible light photoredox conditions provides experimental evidence for the involvement of such a process in dual gold/photoredox-catalyzed reactions. Moreover, this method delivers well-defined and stable (C,N)-cyclometalated gold(III) species. As demonstrated here, the mild reaction conditions and the ability to widely vary the supporting ligand make this method a powerful synthetic tool to access diverse gold(III) complexes for systematic studies into the properties and reactivity of this important class of organometallic species.
