Abstract

This 3m fabric banner was created during a workshop in Lysekil in October 2022. The purpose of the workshop was to explore people's perceptions of Lysekil's identity and future prospects. The young participants shared various experiences and perspectives. Some participants mentioned that young people leave Lysekil when the opportunity arises. Those who remain often feel isolated and estranged from their friends who have moved away from the city. One participant sought solace in the forest and talked about how forest walks help cope with the feeling of being left behind.Others expressed their love for the sea and Lysekil's marine life. They shared hopes for a future blue economy driven by marine biology research and sustainable tourism. Could such a future attract young people back to the city? This banner illustrates how young residents of Lysekil connect more with the forest and the sea than with industry. Their creative textile art holds hopes for a sustainable city and testifies to the importance of green and blue natural environments and industries for the well-being of the youth.
