Abstract

© 2023 George Warman Publications. All rights reserved. Both the anatomical challenges of root canal treatment and the variable clinical techniques employed mean that root canal re-treatment will sometimes be necessary. The first of this two-part series aims to discuss why cases may fail, and options for re-treatment. This includes the decision between re-treatment in general dental practice and the need for referral for specialist care. CPD/Clinical Relevance: Understanding the reasons for root canal treatment failure will reduce the likelihood of failure and enable appropriate assessment when it does happen.
