Abstract

The call for evidence asked which organisations are the most trusted sources of information in the UK?Based on my research, the answer to the question above is that museums and museum curators consistently rank as amongst the most highly trusted sources of information in democratic societies like the UK, Australia, Canada, and the US. This written evidence briefly reviews the key points of the relevant studies conducted on this topic to date and proposes 6 key trust attributes which underpin public trust in museums. It concludes by identifies key challenges and opportunities relating to continuing public trust in these organisations.
