Abstract

Metathesis between [Li{(Me3Si)2C}P(C6 H4-2-CH2NMe2)2] and NaOBut in ether yields the sodium phosphinomethanide [Na{(Me3Si)2C}P(C6 H4-2-CH2NMe2)2(Et2O)0.5(DME)0.5] (2b) after recrystallization. Complex 2b and its Li and K analogues are highly fluxional in solution, and the dynamic processes accounting for this have been studied by variable-temperature 1H NMR spectroscopy.
