Abstract

The role of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) in supporting the needs of key areas mentioned in the UK Government's White Paper on Integrated Transport is discussed. It was suggested that ITS provides real-time management and control of the transport network. The analysis shows that public acceptance and the availability of cost effective solutions are serious potential barriers to ITS deployment.
