Abstract

High torque machines for power hand tool applications were presented. Two radically different machine types, laminated machine and claw pole armature machine, were built and tested for high torque applications. Both machines produced a high specific output in the absence of forced cooling. Results showed that the claw pole machine produced 40% more torque than the laminated machine at thermal limit.
