Abstract

The thunder Horse Semi-Submersible had built for production of hydrocarbons at Thunder Horse field in the Gulf of Mexico. The unit houses production, drilling and living quarters (PDQ). It is designed for 25 years operation on location with catenary moorings. The unit has four columns supporting a box like upper-hull (Topside) with a moon-pool for drilling. The columns are connected by four pontoons, which form a square-shaped lower hull, all contributes to the resistance to functional and environmental loadings.
