This paper examanines two crucial issues facing and affecting Egyptian politics over the last 10 years, in particular looking at the impact of the political succession process and the Muslim Brotherhood on the economic and political dimensions in Egypt. This is done by analysing how the succession process is being managed in Egypt, through a look at the grooming process and the challenge, if any the Muslim Brotherhood has being able to pose to the succession process, given that it is the largest opposition movement in Egypt, with extensive grassroot support and networks. © 2010 Taylor & Francis.
