Abstract

The results of volume expansion and stress tensors for self-interstitial aggregates in diamond were presented. A vast disparity was found between the volume expansion arising from vacancy and interstitial related centres. The volume displaced per interstitial was found to diminish with increase in size of the aggregates. The elimination of dangling bonds contributed to the increased binding energy per interstitial with increasing aggregate size.
