Abstract

The title compound, C7H11NO5·H 2O, a hydrated stereoisomer of the N-acetylated lactone of polyoxamic acid, contains a lactone ring with an envelope conformation, all substituents being cis. Intermolecular hydrogen bonds involving all possible donors link the lactone molecules into sheets, which are interlinked by the water molecules to give a three-dimensional network. © 2003 International Union of Crystallography Printed in Great Britain - all rights reserved.
