Abstract

Falls are a major cause of morbidity and mortality in older people with dementia. However, although we know that people with dementia can comply with interventions known to reduce falls in cognitively normal populations, and that these interventions can modify certain risk factors for falls in patients with dementia, direct evidence that falls can be prevented in older people with dementia is lacking. Further research is required specifically targeting fall prevention in older people with dementia. © 2007 Springer-Verlag.
